Admissions Procedure

The following steps outline the admissions procedure for Heritage School:

[* Indicates optional but recommended steps.]

Plan to visit a Friday Chapel ( 8:15 a.m.— 9:00 a.m. every Friday) *

What happens next…

Ø      School office will process the forms. (This can take 3-6 weeks.)

Ø      The parent should supply Heritage School with photocopies of recent report cards and standardized test scores (if available).  If the student has taken the PSAT or SAT, please include those score reports. Heritage School will request records from applicant’s current school if necessary.  (We may request applicant to obtain transcript and records from the current school.  Some schools will not release records until withdrawal of student.)

Ø      HM and/or Guidance Counselor will assess need for further testing to aid in placement of the applicant  [Testing may include the OLSAT (Otis-Lennon Scholastic Aptitude Test), the Stanford Achievement test; an exit-level math test; a writing sample; a reading + narration as deemed necessary].  HM and Guidance counselor may recommend summer tutoring to assure student applicant is ready for the grade level for which he/she is applying.  Heritage School reserves the right to determine grade placement.

Ø      Upper school students (grades 7—12) will be interviewed by the HM.

Ø      Admissions committee will review the records and meet with the HM to determine the qualification of the applicant.

Ø      Admissions chairman will recommend family for acceptance or denial of admission; Board of Trustees votes.

Ø      School notifies applicant of acceptance or denial of admission.  With acceptance, the applicant receives a packet of information and forms to complete.
