WHAT IS SCRIP? SCRIP cards are gift cards from retailers that Heritage purchases at a discount and resells to you at face value. With every SCRIP purchase, our school earns a 2%-30% rebate, depending on the store. You spend only what you normally would on items like groceries, gas, and gifts.
HOW DOES IT WORK? Families order online each week. The school approves the order at the beginning of the week. Families send a check to school OR can pay online. The SCRIP cards are sent home in your child’s backpack at the end of that week. Parents are asked to volunteer to sort SCRIP cards 1 hour per student at the school per year.
NEW TO SCRIP? Each family sets up an account on ShopWithSCRIP.com and purchases SCRIP cards online. Families with no internet access can place a paper order and check in the SCRIP box by the teacher mailboxes. When registering, use the enrollment code for Heritage School of 2L3L669314532.
EXISTING ACCOUNTS? Current SCRIP users should sign on to www.ShopWithScrip.com and choose “Change Profile/Password” to update your account with your student’s 2009-10 grade and teacher.
WHAT IS PRESTO PAY?– If you are tired of forgetting to send in your check, consider registering for the PrestoPay program at ShopWithScrip.com. When you place your order, your checking account is debited for the amount of the order. There is a $.39 convenience fee each order. Registering for PrestoPay does take 1 to 2 days while they confirm your checking information.
WHAT ARE RELOAD CARDS? A limited number of retailers offer overnight Reloads on existing cards. The card must be registered on ShopWithSCRIP.com and paid online with PrestoPay. Not only is it eco-friendly, but you also get to spend the card the very next day and not wait for the next school order. Currently reloadable retailers are AMC Theatres, B .Dalton, Banana Republic, Barnes and Noble, Bookstar, Bookstop, Cineplex Odeon, CVS Pharmacy, Exxon, Gap, Loews Cineplex, Lowe’s, Mobil, Old Navy, Papa John’s, Piperlime, and Starbucks.
POPULAR SCRIP CARDS- Our top 10 selling cards last year were HEB, Wal-mart, Dennis Uniforms, Walgreens, Chevron, Pizza Hut, Belk, Lowe’s, JC Penney and Shell. Our top 2 local retailers are Rockbox Theater and Hill Country Dry Clean Super Center.
#1 SELLER - HEB (2% rebate) cards are the bread and butter of the program. We sold $142,625 in HEB cards and earned $4,279 last year. Imagine if each family (on average) spent $100 at HEB with SCRIP each week. The total earnings from these cards alone would total over $20,000!
LOCAL RETAILERS- Heritage allows our school’s parents who own local businesses to offer SCRIP gift certificates. Current local retailers include Der Küchen Laden, Eye Country, Hill Country Dry Clean Super Center, Hondo’s on Main, Kroeger Eye Care, Rockbox Theater, Tea Rose Quilts and Gifts, and Tranquility Cottage Massages. With rebates ranging from 5% to 30%, these retailers contributed almost $900 to the SCRIP program and $8,761 in sales for their stores.

Heritage Eagles Enrichment sells SCRIP cards to Heritage families as one of the school’s fundraisers. A portion of the earnings go to our operating budget; amounts earned over the budget will be applied to enhance our programming! During the last two years SCRIP has raised over $20,000 for the school. With only 15-25 families ordering each week in the past, we have a HUGE potential for growth (think $30,000-$40,00/ year vs. the $10,000 per year that we are currently earning). If we will embrace this fundraiser as part of our school culture, the opportunity to enrich the school will be substantial!
